Born in Hastings,
Moss grew up in Tauranga, swimming for the Otumoetai Club, and is now based on Auckland’s North
Shore training at the
Millennium Institute under Jan Cameron.
Moss’s parents and two brothers have all
represented NZ in Underwater Hockey.
Moss burst on to the national scene by
qualifying for the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and then claimed fourth place at
the Games. Moss became one of the few New Zealanders to break the two-minute
barrier at the Games. He went on to swim for NZ
the Athens Olympics 2004, gaining valuable experience for his big push
at Beijing 2008.
